mini post-mortem
(game started 21/01/26, finished 9/02/26)
and I'm done! as I write this, I made the game public about two minutes ago – I'm looking forward to seeing if anyone posts their finished doll :]
the overall process of Making the game was actually pretty smooth?? the template was super easy to use so tbh most of the work was just the pixel art, which I'm very much still learning. an annoying part about learning new skills as you go in projects like this is that you have to stare at what you made 2 weeks ago and think 'I could do better' and just move on anyway because otherwise you'll never finish (╥﹏╥)
I'm gonna rest for a couple of days and then start on a godot/gdscript course I bought! my end goal is to be capable of making all kinds of games and I think this was a really great starter project :] I've never actually finished a game before so it's really nice to know I Am capable of it.
things I've learned:
- keep my workload moderate!!!! I could have added like a million other things and I'm still tempted to but I knew I would never finish it if I did
- restrict my colour palette! tbh I usually do this already but especially for stuff like this where I'm making tons and tons of assets, it makes things a lot simpler if I only have so many colours to work with
thanks to anyone reading, and I hope you enjoy the game if you play it
